Who Can Apply?
For Undergraduate Applicants:
To be eligible for the undergraduate program, candidates must:
- Be 26 years or younger at the time of application
- Meet the minimum admission requirements of UWC (apply separately at uwc.ac.za)
- Intend to begin full-time undergraduate study in January 2025
- Demonstrate financial need or barriers to accessing higher education
- Show leadership potential and commitment to community service
For Master’s Applicants:
To qualify for the master’s program, candidates must:
- Be 30 years or younger at the time of application
- Meet the program-specific admission criteria for UWC
- Not have previously completed a master’s degree
- Be ready to begin their first year of full-time master’s studies in January 2025
- Provide evidence of socio-economic challenges or displacement
- Applicants from refugee, disabled, or underserved backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply

Mastercard Scholarship (How to Apply)
Step 1: Apply to UWC
Visit the UWC application portal to apply for admission to your chosen undergraduate or master’s program for 2025.
Step 2: Apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship
Choose one of the following methods:
- Online Application (Preferred)
- ✉️Offline Application (if online access is limited)
- Download the application form
- Submit the completed form and all documents in a single email to: mcfsp-applications@uwc.ac.za
- Important: Submitting through both methods will lead to automatic disqualification
