Eligibility Criteria for Rhodes Scholarship 2025

To be considered, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Nationality

• You must not be eligible for the Rhodes Scholarship through an existing regional constituency.

• If you have strong ties to a specific Rhodes region but are not eligible through it, you may apply via the Global Scholarship route.

2. Age Criteria

You must meet one of the following:

• Be aged 18–24 on October 1, 2025 (born after October 1, 2000, and before October 2, 2007), OR

• For specific professional fields (medicine, law, engineering, etc.), be aged 18–25, OR

• If you completed your first undergraduate degree later than usual, be under 27 years old and have completed your degree on or after October 1, 2024.

3. Academic Achievement

• Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree (First Class Honours or equivalent preferred).

• Your academic record should demonstrate the ability to gain admission into the University of Oxford.

4. English Proficiency

• You must meet the Oxford English language requirements unless:

  • English is your first language, and

  • You are a citizen and resident of a majority English-speaking country.

What the Rhodes Scholarship Covers

Selected scholars will receive:

• Full tuition at the University of Oxford

• Annual stipend of £19,800 to cover living expenses

• Visa application fee and IHS (health surcharge)

• Two economy flights (to and from the UK)

• Settling-in allowance on arrival in Oxford

• Support for a second course (if continuing studies at Oxford, including visa/IHS renewal)
