Program Details: What Is the DAAD PRIME Fellowship?

The DAAD PRIME (Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience) Fellowship funds researchers who plan to build long-term academic careers in Germany. Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the program provides temporary employment at a German university while allowing scholars to conduct part of their research project abroad.

This 18-month fellowship consists of:

  • 12 months of funded research abroad

  • 6-month reintegration phase in Germany

During this time, you remain employed under a TV-L EG 13 salary scale (approx. €70,000 to €80,000 per year), and your home institution in Germany administers your pay and coordinates your international mobility.
