About the GREAT Scholarship
Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), in collaboration with the British Council and the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign, is proud to offer GREAT Scholarships 2025 to outstanding international students. This initiative supports students from Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya, and Pakistan who wish to pursue a full-time taught postgraduate degree in the UK.
This prestigious scholarship is designed to support students with strong academic backgrounds, leadership potential, and a desire to contribute to the development of their home countries. Through this partnership, ARU is offering four scholarships, one for each eligible country.
GREAT Scholarship (Who Can Apply?)
This opportunity is open to international students who meet the following criteria:

- Hold a passport from one of the following countries:
- Indonesia
- Nigeria
- Kenya
- Pakistan
- Have applied to study a full-time taught postgraduate course (any subject) at Anglia Ruskin University starting in September 2025
- Hold a passport from one of the following countries:
- Have received a conditional or unconditional offer for a place at ARU on one of the eligible campuses:
- Cambridge
- Chelmsford
- Writtle
- Peterborough

GREAT Scholarship Value
- £10,000 tuition fee discount
- One-time award applied toward the first year of study only
- Not available for use beyond the first academic year or for part-time or distance learning courses
GREAT Scholarship (Duration)
This scholarship applies only to the first year of your full-time postgraduate taught programme beginning in September 2025.
GREAT Scholarship Restrictions
- Cannot be combined with any other ARU scholarship, bursary, or early payment discount
- Applies to tuition fees only and cannot be used for living expenses or other costs
GREAT Scholarship (How to Apply)
Eligible candidates must:
- Apply to ARU and receive an offer (either conditional or unconditional) for a full-time taught postgraduate course starting in September 2025.
- Complete the GREAT Scholarship application form for your country. Forms are available online via ARU’s official scholarship portal.
- Submit a 500-word personal statement within the application form explaining:
- Why you are applying for the scholarship
- Your academic and professional goals
- How the course aligns with your aspirations
- How you plan to contribute to your home country after completing the degree
Important Dates
- Application deadline: 25 May 2025 (by end of day, UK time)
- Notification of results: Applicants will be informed of the outcome approximately two weeks after the closing date
How Applications Are Assessed
Your application will be reviewed by a panel of Anglia Ruskin University academic and admissions staff. Selection is based on the strength and relevance of your 500-word personal statement, along with how well your profile aligns with the GREAT Scholar Profile as outlined by the British Council.

- All decisions will be shared with the British Council
- In some cases, applicants may be invited to a short online interview to discuss their statement and suitability for the scholarship
