The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is inviting applications for the 2025 Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme, a prestigious, fully funded initiative aimed at strengthening the biomanufacturing workforce across Africa. Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme Overview

The Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship is a two-year blended learning program running from July 2025 to June 2027. It combines theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and specialized training in one key area of the participant’s choice.

Importantly, fellows are not required to leave their jobs, but they will be expected to travel for selected short-term courses and trainings during the fellowship period. Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme  (Eligibility Criteria)

To be eligible for the Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be currently employed in an active biomanufacturing company

  • Hold at least a Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields:

    • Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences

    • Biotechnology

    • Chemistry or Biochemistry

    • Biochemical Engineering

  • Be a citizen of an African Union Member State

  • Reside in an AU country with an active vaccine manufacturing company

  • Possess a valid passport for travel

  • Be able and willing to participate in both virtual and in-person training components

  • Be able to obtain leave of absence from their employer when needed

  • Submit a letter of support from their employer

Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme  (Selection Process)

The selection process will be handled by a designated committee within Africa CDC’s Public Health and Health Management (PHAHM) division. The committee will review all eligible applications and shortlist candidates based on their qualifications, professional background, and potential impact.

Only five (5) fellows will be selected for the 2025 cohort, making this a highly competitive opportunity. Selected candidates will be notified by June 15, 2025.
