The African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIMBANK) is inviting applications for its 2025 Internship Program. This highly competitive program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in trade finance and development in Africa, while learning directly from experts at a leading multilateral financial institution.

About the Program
AFREXIMBANK’s internship aims to expose students to the Bank’s mandate, operating model, and real-world issues in trade finance. Interns are expected to bring fresh perspectives to the Bank while gaining valuable insights that will shape their careers in African trade and development.
This merit-based program is open to students from the Bank’s member countries, and selections are based on qualifications and field of study relevance.

AFREXIMBANK Internship Program Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:

Be nationals of an AFREXIMBANK member state (list available on the Bank’s website)

Be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program at a recognized university

Be between 20 and 32 years of age during the year of application
-
Be studying in relevant fields such as economics, business administration, finance, law, statistics, accounting, or social sciences
-
Be fluent in English or French (working knowledge of the other is an advantage). Knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is a plus
-
Not be children of AFREXIMBANK staff members
AFREXIMBANK Internship Program Benefits
While interns are expected to cover their personal costs such as meals, clothing, and insurance, the Bank provides several support benefits:

Monthly stipend: $800 (paid at month-end)

Flight allowance: Return airfare from home country to internship location (economy class, direct route)

Arrival accommodation: 1-week hotel stay with breakfast upon arrival

Airport transfers: From airport to hotel on arrival and vice versa on departure

Visa assistance: Provided for the duration of the internship (if applicable)
AFREXIMBANK Internship Program (Required Documents)
Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

Certified academic certificates

Recommendation letter from your current institution confirming your student status and proposed internship dates (up to 6 months)

Short statement of intent (max 1 A4 page) outlining what you hope to gain from the internship

Note: Successful candidates must provide proof of valid medical and personal accident insurance for Egypt (or the internship location) before the internship begins. Failure to do so will result in automatic withdrawal of the offer.
Interns must begin their placement within the first month of their designated internship season.
