List of Youth Empowerment Programs in Nigeria 2022 : Youth empowerment initiatives are primarily intended to empower young people by increasing their access to resources and transforming their virtues and consciousness. Numerous empowerment initiatives have been implemented in Nigeria with the goal of increasing the young citizenry’s social skills, self-confidence, and civic efficacy.

AFRICAN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT NIGERIA (AYEN)

The African Youth Empowerment Nigeria’s objectives are concentrated on providing training to the youth population through a variety of outlets, including workshops, seminars, and vocational programs.

African Youth Empowerment Nigeria beneficiaries also receive educational and financial assistance. African Youth Empowerment Nigeria collaborates with local benefactors and coordinated associations to fulfill its youth-related tasks.

DIAMOND-CREST FOR YOUTH EDUCATION FOUNDATION

This program recognizes the critical role education plays in channeling young people’s positive energy for the benefit of themselves and society at large, and thus commits to providing young people with the education necessary to achieve positive socioeconomic status, imbibe science and industry, and live fulfilling lives with aspirations and prospects.

GRADUATE INTERNSHIP SCHEME (GIS)

Graduate Internships are a component of the Program for Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment (Sure-P). The Graduate Internship Scheme’s objectives are to reduce the vulnerability of unemployed young Nigerian graduates by increasing employability through internship programs at pre-selected institutions.

LEAP AFRICA

LEAP Africa recognizes that realizing Africa’s potential requires developing young adults via the supply of vital skills and resources for personal and communal transformation. LEAR Africa engages with finance, implementation, and technical partners on a variety of community transformation projects for youth, secondary school leadership programs, and entrepreneurship support for the young population.

NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC)

The National Youth Service Corps was founded on May 22, 1973, with the goals of accelerating economic growth, boosting self-reliance, and developing and promoting unity and national integration among Nigerian graduates. Through the Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Department (SAED), the National Youth Service Corps facilitates the sensitization, training, and mentoring of Nigerian graduates in skill acquisition through definitive curriculum in-camp skill acquisition exercises, the provision of avenues for graduates to access funding opportunities, and other empowerment roles.

NEW ERA FOUNDATION

The New Era Foundation was founded in 2000 with the goal of boosting public awareness about environmental health, engaging in nation-building exercises, and conducting learned competitions among young people, thus instilling the habit of healthy rivalry. Additionally, program participants benefit from networking opportunities for personal development and advancement.

N-POWER

This is a youth empowerment initiative administered by the National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS), with the Federal Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development serving as supervisors. N-Power was founded with the mission of reducing young unemployment and fostering social development via the preparation of youth with essential skills and certifications for expanding global markets. Graduates and non-graduates who fall within the program’s specified age range are eligible to enroll.

PRESIDENTIAL YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUPPORT (P-YES)

This program was established to address the country’s youth unemployment crisis through targeted initiatives aimed at giving training and subsequent entrepreneurial support to enable youngsters to launch small and medium-sized businesses. The Bank of Industry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Student Affairs, is responsible for ensuring that these goals are met.

This was formed in 2012, during the government of Goodluck Jonathan, following the elimination of subsidies on Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS). This initiative aimed to fund critical infrastructure and social safety net programs that directly benefit the populace. This program offered participants with employment possibilities and other advantages as a result of the share savings associated with the elimination of gasoline subsidies.

TONY ELUMELU FOUNDATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Program aims to alleviate poverty and provide adolescents with permanent employment. This goal is accomplished through the provision of exceptional business training, mentorship, transnational networking, and awards of up to $5000 to beneficiaries. The TEF Entrepreneurship Program is designed to ignite the entrepreneurial potential of young Nigerians and Africans who participate.

TRADER MONI

This project was established to stimulate the economy by offering financial services to unemployed youth, disabled individuals, marginalized women, petty traders, and other vulnerable sections in society. The Bank of Industry (BOI) is responsible for giving a non-refundable loan of up to NGN 50,000 to this category of individuals. Additionally, beneficiaries stand to benefit from a value chain and digital e-platform that will enable their products to reach a broader audience.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

The Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative has committed to teaching, encouraging, and empowering young people throughout the country via the use of recognized and proven methodologies and strategies. For more than a decade, this project has benefited beneficiaries through counseling on health-related concerns, youth seminars, and delivery of goods such as bed nets. The program collaborates with Grassroot Soccer and other sponsors to train young people to become mentors through the use of sport-themed activities to educate the public.

YOUTH ENTERPRISE WITH INNOVATION IN NIGERIA (YOUWIN)

YOUWIN was founded in 2011 by President Goodluck Jonathan’s government with the mission of empowering youth in Nigeria through the financing of excellent business proposals submitted by prospective entrepreneurs. YOUWIN provides equity investment in the enterprises of selected grantees who have exceptional business concepts, under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communication and Technology, the Ministry of Youth Development, and the Ministry of Women Africa.

YOUTH INITIATIVE FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE IN NIGERIA (YISA)

The Youth Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture is dedicated to encouraging young people interested in delving into agriculture by providing them with the essential tools necessary to start an agricultural enterprise.
