THE TOP 10 MOST NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERS IN THE HISTORY OF NIGERIA
One of the most famous and successful Nigerian armed robbers ranked number one among the most notorious armed robbers in the history of Nigeria is DR. OYENUSI. He is the most wanted armed robber in the country. Ishola Oyenusi, often known as Doctor Oyenusi, was a notorious burglar who terrorized the residents of Lagos and other nearby urban areas in the 1970s with his well-dressed bodyguards.
Ishola Oyenusi and his posse of six were particularly skilled at robbing banks, looting manufacturing factories, robbing stores, and slaughtering people like chickens, among other things. Oyenusi is a Yoruba man who hails from Osun State.
The mention of the name Shina Rambo used to send shivers down the spines of many Nigerians when it was first mentioned.
Even police officers were terrified of Rambo, who had become a well-known armed robber who intimidated the general public. He is reported to have murdered and robbed people, as well as left a trail of dread that will take years to clear up.
The life of the legendary armed robber who subsequently became a pastor has been brought back to life for all to read and learn about for the sake of history.
Shina Rambo is a former bandit who terrorized the region of South-West Nigeria in the 1990s. He is now a member of the Nigerian security forces. After serving time in prison for his misdeeds, he was persuaded to change his ways by an evangelist and went on to become an evangelical Christian pastor. LAWRENCE NOMAYAGBON ANINI
A well-known Nigerian Armed Robber who, in the 1980s, fashioned dummies of members of the Nigerian police force. Lawrence Anini was a gang leader in Benin whose gangs spread dread and terror. He was originally from (Mid West), which is now the state of Edo. Many people say he is intelligent in robbery, but he is not as intelligent or dangerous as Dr. Oyenusi (the greatest Nigerian Armed Robber).
Anini was a ruthless armed robber who plagued Benin City and its vicinity in 1986, notably between August and December of the same year. Anini’s gang, which included Monday Osunbor, who served as his deputy, Friday Ofege, Smallie, Henry Ekponwan, Philip Kingsley Eweka, and Alhaji Zegege, was involved in car hijackings, bus robberies, and bank robberies, among other things. Anini was killed in the course of his activities. Corruption among police officers, such as Inspector George Iyamu, allowed Anini and his gang to rule with the assistance of corrupt officers who provided intel to the gang as well as weapons, logistical support, and security.
Anini was apprehended on December 3, 1986, at No. 26 Oyemewa street in Benin City, following a tip-off from the local community. He was apprehended by Superintendent of Police Kayode Uanrero and a 10-member Police Crack Unit, but not before he nearly had his leg amputated as he attempted to flee. His crimes, as well as the help he received from the police, were disclosed while he was being tried in wheelchairs. During his trial, he was found to have implicated Inspector George Iyamu. On March 29, 1987, he was found guilty and sentenced to death by firing squad.

Another bloodthirsty Armed Robber strikes again. Osunbor is Anini’s, right-hand man. He was a member of a murderous gang that terrorized Nigeria’s southern area for several years.
INSPECTOR GEORGE IYAMU
Remember inspector George iyamu who was the senior Cop who ensured that Anini’s career was a success. He was a high-ranking armed robber who dressed in police clothing.
He assisted Anini’s group by providing intelligence and weapons. He was the third member of Anini’s Gang and the seventh in the history of Nigeria’s armed robbers, according to the book.
Another terrible Armed Robber in history who went on to become a Minister. Mrs. Williams’ son, who is well-known. In addition to being Yoruba, Kayode was Oyenusi’s best friend.
Abiodun Egunjobi, alias Godogodo, a 36-year-old slum boy who rose from the slums to become the leader of a gang that defied all logic, struck with pinpoint accuracy, killed without mercy, and terrorized Lagos and the south-west with reckless abandon.
Starting in the slums of Abule Egba, he rose through the ranks to become the leader of a gang of robbers that wreaked havoc across Lagos State and parts of Ogun, where his crimes were committed. Godogodo and his gang gained notoriety as a result of their criminal acts, earning them a spot on the Police Department’s Most Wanted List. During the course of his armed robbery operations, he is said to have killed over a hundred police officers as well as a large number of civilians. He was apprehended on August 1, 2013, after more than a decade of eluding the authorities in the United States.
If you’re an Igbo who was born before the century, you’re probably familiar with the endless stories of Chief Vincent Douro, also known as Otokoto, who was accused of humiliating ritual murder. When he died, his son, Obidiozor Duru, reigned as king of the infamous Black Secret sect, which was responsible for periodic robberies and kidnappings of children in the Owerri, Imo, area. Following rumors of malevolent activities by the Otokoto family, the city of Owerri placed the Otokoto family under observation and radar.
As the saying goes, “There’s no smoke without fire.” Although the wind blows, the bird’s airways remain unobstructed. On September 19, 1996, Otokoto was indicted. The filthy sheets are being laundered outside, and the fancy hotel, the Otokoto Hotel, is being demolished in the process.
