List of Police Academies in Nigeria

list of Nigerian police academies: The Nigerian Police Academy was founded in 1988 at the Police Training School Challawa, Kano, and the Police College, Kaduna, both of which were temporary campuses that were amalgamated and eventually relocated to Wudil, Kano, on April 2, 1996. There are currently several Police Academies in Nigeria. Their objectives are to provide institutions capable of competently training qualitative manpower for the Nigerian Police Force and to equip trainees with solid academic and military exercises in order to produce law enforcement officers capable of effectively discharging dynamic police duties in society.

 

This is a list of Nigerian police academies:

IKEJA POLICE COLLEGE, LAGOS STATE

This training center, located at 26 Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State, was built as the Nigeria Police Force’s major police training college. Additionally, it is considered a formation of Force Headquarters. The Police College, Ikeja, has the following functions: it trains recruitment constables for service in one of the southern Nigerian states, it trains all direct entry superior police officers and cadet sub-inspectors, it trains superior police officers and inspectors in advanced training, and it holds promotional courses for inspectors and senior non-commissioned officers. Other tasks of the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State include the training of police drivers, police signal and telephone operators, as well as the training of students from other police forces.

OJI RIVER POLICE COLLEGE, ENUGU STATE

The Police College, Oji River, trains recruits for service who are ordinarily residents of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, or Imo states.

CALABAR POLICE TRAINING COLLEGE, CROSS RIVER STATE

This Police Training College is in charge of training police recruits from Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

KADUNA POLICE COLLEGE, KADUNA STATE

The Police College Kaduna was founded to train recruit constables engaged for duty in the Northern states of the country, as well as to conduct promotional courses for non-commissioned officers and constables from the Northern states. It is classified as a Force Headquarters formation.

WUDIL POLICE COLLEGE, KANO STATE

The Police College Wudil educates recruitment constables and officers pursuing progression in the Nigeria Police Force. In

COLLEGE OF POLICE TRAINING STAFF, JOS, PLATEAU STATE

The Police Training Staff College prepares recruitment constables for duty and also provides cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police with twelve months of Intermediate Training.

The Police Detective College Enugu State was established on November 15, 1984, with the mission of training recruits to the service as well as police officials pursuing progression within the Nigerian Police Force.

The Police Training School in Ibadan is in charge of recruiting constables for service from Oyo and Ekiti states.

BAUCHI STATE POLICE COLLEGE

The Police College in Bauchi educates recruits to the Force, particularly those from Bauchi and Taraba states.

IPERU-KEMU POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL, OGUN STATE

Constables recruited for service who normally reside in Ogun State can obtain Basic Training at the Police Training School in Iperu-Kemu.

SOKOTO STATE POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL

After successfully completing the Basic Constable Training, recruits from Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Sokoto get training that equips officers of law enforcement with a firm grasp of police roles in the society.

ILORIN POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL, KWARA STATE

The training of recruit constables with a strong educational foundation, practical professional exercises, and courses geared to develop law enforcement officials with the necessary competence to carry out police tasks efficiently in society.

Recruits from Kwara State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja are trained at the Ilorin Police Training School.

MINNA POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL, NIGER STATE

The Police Training School in Minna provides Basic Training to recruit constables, particularly those from Niger and Kogi states.

MAKURDI POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL, BENUE STATE

After nine months of Basic Constable Training, the Police Training School in Makurdi is charged with generating well-seasoned law enforcement officials and recruitment constables.

SCHOOL OF POLICE TRAINING, JOS, STATE OF PLATEAU

The Police Training School in Jos is tasked with the responsibility of providing recruits to the Nigeria Police Force with a good educational background, as well as courses and programs aimed at producing law enforcement personnel with a high level of competency in the fulfillment of police tasks.

SCHOOL OF POLICE TRAINING, BENIN, EDO STATE

Charged with the responsibility of training recruitment constables for duty in the states of Edo and Delta.

RIVERS STATE POLICE TRAINING SCHOOL FOR ANTI-TERRORISM

The Anti-Terrorism Police Training School is responsible for the recruitment of candidates into the Nigerian Police Force from Rivers and Bayelsa states.

SCHOOL OF DOG TRAINING, JOS, PLATEAU STATE

The Dog Training School’s mandate is to train police service canines, police dog handlers, and to breed dogs suitable for service with the Nigerian Police Force.

The Nigerian Police School of Music in Ikeja was established to train student band members for examinations administered by the Royal School of Music or for any other examination specified by the Inspector General.

The Nigerian Police School of Music is administered by an appointed Director of Music.

The Police Training School prepares candidates for the Police Force by providing a solid academic foundation, a high level of professionalism, and military drill courses designed to produce well-trained and seasoned police constables capable of effectively carrying out police tasks in society.
