Every year, over 100,000 Nigerian students dream of studying in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka – the very first university built by Nigerians for Nigerians back in 1955. But the reality check is that – only about 10,000 of them will make it. That’s roughly 1 in 10 chances! If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of those dreamers, and trust me, you’re in the right place. Let’s break down everything you need to know about getting into this prestigious institution.
UNN Cut-off Mark for 2025/2026
The Real Cut-off Mark
The University of Nigeria Nsukka has officially announced that candidates who scored 160 and above in the 2025 UTME are eligible for the screening exercise. The University of Nigeria hereby invites candidates who made University of Nigeria their first-choice institution in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored 160 and above for screening exercise.
However, don’t start celebrating just yet if you scored 160. While this is the minimum to participate in the screening, the actual departmental cut-offs are much higher due to intense competition.

How UNN Calculates Final Scores
University of Nigeria, Nsukka uses a weighted system to determine final admission scores:
- JAMB UTME score carries 60% weight
- Post UTME screening carries 40% weight
This means your JAMB score is more important, but a strong Post UTME performance can still make a significant difference.
Departmental Cut-off
Different courses have varying levels of competition:
Highly Competitive (Usually 250+ needed):
- Medicine and Surgery
- Pharmacy
- Law
- Engineering courses
- Computer Science
Moderately Competitive (Usually 200-240):
- Mass Communication
- Economics
- Psychology
- Accounting
Less Competitive (180-220 range):
