About the Mastercard AfOx Scholarship
The Mastercard AfOx Scholarship is designed to support 400 African scholars in completing a one-year taught Master’s program at Oxford. The focus areas are centered around pandemic preparedness and recovery, leadership, and community transformation.
This program aligns with the shared values of the Mastercard Foundation and AfOx: inclusion, community, collegiality, empathy, and a strong commitment to excellence.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Mastercard AfOx Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an African country
- Apply for admission to an eligible Master’s program at the University of Oxford via the graduate admissions portal
- Indicate interest in the AfOx funding during the application
- Belong to a group historically underrepresented in higher education (e.g., women, refugees, displaced persons, people with disabilities)
- Submit all required documents before the course deadline
- Carefully read the Oxford Application Guide and seek assistance from the AfriSoc Mentoring Programme if needed

Scholarship Timeline & Selection Process

- Applicants who receive conditional admission offers will be invited to apply for the AfOx Graduate Scholarship Program
- Shortlisted candidates will complete an AfOx Scholarship Questionnaire
- Finalists will be interviewed virtually before selections are finalized
