The Africa Women Conference (AWC) proudly announces applications for the 2025 Women and Girls Digital Technology Hub – AI & Data Science Program. This fully virtual program aims to empower African women and girls by equipping them with in-demand skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Data Analysis.
This initiative is part of AWC’s commitment to closing the gender gap in tech NY ⅚creating inclusive pathways into the digital workforce. The program provides accessible, high-quality training designed to boost digital literacy and career readiness in AI and data-driven industries.
Program Overview
Set to begin in July 2025, the three-month intensive training will engage over 100 participants through structured learning and mentorship. Key features include:
- Expert-led modules delivered by industry professionals and academics.
- Live bi-weekly online sessions offering technical instruction, career development, and peer learning.
- One-on-one and group mentorship to support individual goals and progress.
Upon completing the initial training, qualified participants will advance to a six-month extended learning phase, where they’ll access premium content via a DataCamp license. This phase allows for self-paced study in advanced topics and leads to industry-recognized certifications.
Who Can Apply?
The AWC program targets African women and girls aged 15–45 with a strong interest in tech. The initiative is beginner-friendly, welcoming applicants with no prior coding or data experience.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Must reside in an African country.
- Have a strong passion for AI, Data Science, or technology.
- Own a functional laptop and have stable internet access.
- Be available to attend live bi-weekly sessions throughout the program.
Key Learning Objectives
Participants will gain hands-on skills in:
- Python programming for data analysis and machine learning.
- Data wrangling and visualization using Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
- Core AI concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning.
- Critical thinking and ethical AI use.
- Data storytelling and effective presentation techniques.
Graduates will be well-equipped for entry-level roles or internships in AI, Data Science, and related tech fields. The extended learning period offers the chance to specialize in areas such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Business Analytics, or AI for Healthcare.
Participant Commitments
To maximize impact, participants must:
- Attend all bi-weekly live sessions.
- Complete assignments and assessments on time.
- Participate in collaborative projects and mentorship sessions.
- Engage actively on the program’s learning platform.
Only participants who meet engagement requirements during the initial three months will be eligible for the extended six-month DataCamp access.
