About McDonald Fellowships

McDonald Fellowships Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the McDonald Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in English.
  • Eligible Countries: Open to international applicants from low- or middle-income countries.
  • Academic Background: Must be currently enrolled in or have completed a Master’s, PhD, or MD program.
  • Research Field: Candidates must be involved in multiple sclerosis research.
  • Host Institution Requirement: The applicant must select a host institution before applying. This institution can be located in their home country or a neighboring country, provided travel is permitted.
  • Current Work/Study Status:
    • Must be working or studying in a low- or middle-income country, as defined by the World Bank.
    • Candidates working on an MS-related project in another country are eligible if the project started within six months before their nomination.
    • Applicants already studying abroad with funding from an MS International Federation grant are also eligible.
