 Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship Application Deadlines

  • Master’s Programs: April 30, 2025 (Summer Semester) / October 31, 2025 (Winter Semester)

  • Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister, and State Examination Programs: After the 1st semester, up to 3 semesters before the end of the standard study period

  • Medical Students: After the 4th semester or after the physics exam, until the end of the 6th semester

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship receive:

  • A monthly stipend of €750 for Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister, or state examination programs

  • A monthly stipend of €850 for Master’s programs

  • Coverage of health insurance costs

  • A family allowance of €276 for scholars with children

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Language Proficiency: English or German

  • Academic Excellence: Above-average performance in previous studies

  • Country of Origin: Open to talented students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe

  • University Admission: Must be admitted or enrolled at a recognized higher education institution in Germany

Step 2: Submit Required Documents

  • If you are eligible, you will receive an email requesting additional documents, including:

    • Two expert reports from university professors

    • Information on your educational background

    • Details of your socio-political engagement

  • First-year students (except Master’s applicants) must submit two reports from former teachers.

  • You have three weeks to upload the required documents and six weeks to submit expert reports.

Step 3: Attend Selection Interviews

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to two interviews:

    • One with a trusted lecturer from your department

    • One with a member of the selection committee

  • Interview preparation materials and the list of liaison lecturers can be found in the FES annual report.

Step 4: Final Selection

  • The selection committee makes the final decision on scholarship awards.

  • The committee meets multiple times a year to evaluate applications.
