Graduate SNHU Merit Scholarship
For international students who are new to the university, there are various scholarships to consider. One such opportunity is the International Merit Scholarship, which is exclusively available for new international master’s students.
It’s important to complete the SNHU application process for admission before applying for scholarships. The International Merit Scholarship has specific requirements, including a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and acceptance to SNHU.
It is advisable to submit the completed scholarship application at least 30 days prior to the start of the term. Eligible graduate students may receive a maximum scholarship of $4,000, which is awarded as a one-time amount over two terms. The scholarship award is applied solely to tuition and is non-refundable. Availability of funds is a determining factor for all awards.

Scholarships Available for Currently Enrolled Students
For international students already enrolled at SNHU, there are additional scholarship opportunities:
- Charles and Barbara Bickford International Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to graduate or undergraduate international students studying at the Manchester campus.
- Hassa Jadvani Memorial Scholarship: Designed to support students enrolled in the Graduate School of Business, this scholarship gives preference to those pursuing International Business or Finance. Selection criteria include standard needs and academic performance. In the event that no deserving students specializing in the indicated subject areas are identified, the award may be presented to other students enrolled in the Graduate School of Business.
- Li Xu Scholarship Fund: Established in memory of SNHU student Li Xu, also known as Oscar, this scholarship is open to both International and U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. It recognizes individuals who embody Li Xu’s giving and sharing spirit by demonstrating their commitment to helping new students. Scholarship applicants should display an interest in assisting new students in understanding the academic and social culture of the University and New Hampshire, thereby facilitating their adjustment to campus life.
Funding Options For International Students
While most financial aid programs are subsidized by the U.S. Government and are limited to U.S. citizens, there are funding options available specifically for international students studying at SNHU:
Full-time students in lawful F-1 or J-1 status can seek on-campus employment for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic term. On-campus jobs are available, although it’s important to note that new students with limited work experience may face challenges in finding employment.
It’s recommended to consider earnings from employment as supplementary and not rely solely on them to cover the expenses of studying in the U.S., as they can be unpredictable.
From time to time, positions as Residence Assistants become available. These roles involve living in a campus residence hall and assisting fellow students on a specific floor. Residence Assistant awards include a scholarship, stipend, and reduced rate for single-room accommodation. Normally, students become eligible for these positions after completing their first year of study.
Outstanding athletes in various sports such as basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer (football), tennis, baseball, softball, and volleyball may be eligible for athletic scholarships. The specific amounts of these scholarships vary and are determined by the respective coaches.
International Student Loan Program (Private Loans)
If you have family or friends who are permanent residents of the U.S., you may qualify for the International Student Loan Program. This program offers loans covering up to the full cost of your education, with repayment terms spanning up to 25 years.
Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible, except for Intensive English programs. The primary condition is that a family member or friend who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident must be willing to co-sign or guarantee the loan.
Scholarships can help you bear the brunt of studying in the USA. Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU merit scholarships for international students) helps Nigerians and other countries’ citizens enjoy schooling abroad. For more scholarship opportunities, click here
